Post-Bite Lyme Prevention Visit

For recent tick bites with no rash or symptoms, ideally within 72 hours of tick removal. Early evaluation matters because timely prevention may reduce the risk of Lyme disease and lower the chance of persistent or long-term symptoms.

Appointments are generally available within 24–48 hours, including evenings and weekends. Save the tick for testing if possible by placing it in a sealed ziplock bag. If the tick is still attached, follow these tick removal instructions.

This visit includes exposure review, timing assessment, risk evaluation, prevention guidance, and antibiotics when clinically appropriate.

Early Lyme Care

For a new or recent rash, or early Lyme-like symptoms after a known or suspected tick bite. This visit is best for concerns within 30 days of rash or symptom onset.

Early Lyme disease is often diagnosed clinically. Testing may be discussed or ordered when appropriate, but early testing can be negative, especially soon after exposure. Treatment decisions may depend on rash appearance, symptoms, exposure history, timing, medical history, and clinical judgment, not testing alone.

This visit may include rash or photo review, symptom assessment, individualized treatment planning when clinically appropriate including antibiotics, herbs and support protocols, and guidance on testing or lab ordering when needed.

This visit is not intended for severe, rapidly worsening, or complex symptoms such as facial weakness, severe headache, neck stiffness, chest pain, fainting, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, high fever, pregnancy, immune suppression, symptoms lasting more than 30 days, or suspected co-infections. These situations may require urgent in-person care or more comprehensive Lyme and co-infection evaluation.

Cash-pay price: $400

Insurance accepted for eligible patients. Coverage and benefits vary by plan and will be verified before your visit whenever possible. For more info see our Insurance and Billing page.

For people with possible alpha-gal syndrome after tick exposure, especially delayed reactions after eating mammalian meat such as beef, pork, lamb, or venison, or reactions to dairy, gelatin, medications, supplements, or other mammalian-derived products.

Alpha-gal symptoms can vary widely. Some people experience hives, itching, swelling, flushing, breathing symptoms, or even severe allergic reactions. Others may have primarily digestive symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, bloating, cramping, or IBS-like symptoms without obvious skin or breathing symptoms.

This visit may include review of tick exposure history, food reaction patterns, timing of symptoms, prior allergy testing, relevant medications and supplements, and discussion of appropriate lab testing such as alpha-gal specific IgE and related allergy markers when clinically appropriate.

This visit helps determine whether alpha-gal testing makes sense and how results should be interpreted in context. It does not replace emergency care for severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis.
